Photo Contest Continues in light of COVID-19 Cancellation of 2020 FLIF
Dear First Light Image Festival-goers,
The recent global outbreak of Coronavirus is something we take seriously, and the board of directors of the Writing with Light Society have taken steps to ensure the well-being of our participants. While at this time there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Yukon the board is cancelling all in-person gatherings of the 2020 First Light Image Festival. This includes the workshops, portfolio reviews, presentations, print gallery, and photo-walk. We are deeply concerned about the spread of COVID-19 and believe this is the only reasonable and responsible decision to take. We are working with YukonTickets.com to issue full refunds for those who have already purchased tickets. You will be receiving word from YukonTickets.com shortly.
We do have some good news though! Many of you will be preparing your submissions for the FLIF Photo contests. We have been in contact with our sponsors, all of whom are exceedingly understanding of this situation, and they have agreed to continue the sponsorship for the online portions of the festival. This year we have over $5000 in prizes to be won. So, keep on pulling together your best images and share the contest far and wide. We are looking forward to seeing the best of your photography. See flif.ca for more details.
We are now looking forward to FLIF 2021. We would like to give a big thanks to the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre who have worked with us to secure April 17, 2021 for the next FLIF.
Please feel free to reach out to me at email@example.com if you have any questions or concerns.
